TRYST is the world's largest international art fair for artist run initiatives featuring painting sculpture, video art, installation art and more from over 60 international artist-run spaces.

This event was held alongside Nomad II, a 3-day pop-up exhibition of Southern California based Contemporary art.

Both events were located at Del Amo Crossing, 21535 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, CA

TRYST presents a panorama of diverse artistic voices addressing a range of issues from different types of artist groups, with various structures, that exemplify the myriad ways that these initiatives support and grow the art world. From the newly founded, to the ‘established’ groups across LA, international, and national groups, TRYST offers a wider view of the current developments in emerging contemporary art as well as insight into the many ways artists form and run grass-roots organizations and art spaces.

(Definition of tryst: a rendezvous by lovers at a given time or place, often in secret)

TRYST is an international art fair for artist-run spaces, collectives, and organizations addressing the needs and future of global exchange. It is run through the Torrance Art Museum and the City of Torrance.

TRYST aims to facilitate the exposure of regional, national and international artists to new Los Angeles audiences. It is a forum to network with each other, to engage and to provoke further international exchanges and interaction between participants.

TRYST is dedicated to increasing interactions between these spaces and the general public, in a non-commercial project that focuses on independent spaces and experimental projects, run by artists themselves as an alternative to the established commercial art scene and institutional frameworks; to allow for risk, experiment, and a support system which continues the Torrance Art Museum’s interest in these areas.
