Giving new opportunities to those wishing to gain experience this program continues TAM’s commitment to investigating new models for curatorial methodologies and strategies as well as direct support for emerging curators and artists.

ANNEX will revitalize unused urban spaces with…open call sourced curatorial projects by emerging Southern California creatives. With its conceptual roots firmly in the museum’s public art initiative, this program aims to create equity in access to the arts for the general public as well as equity in exposure for early career artists and curators. This program will rely upon the democratizing forces of non-institutional settings and the artist open call, and the dates and spaces will vary according to the spaces available and willing to partner with the museum at any one period of time.

TAM invites emerging curators and artists to propose exhibitions for a it’s latest non-institultional program, ANNEX,  utilizing empty storefronts and buildings throughout the city of Torrance.

These ongoing projects will reach a wider public, create a more diverse curatorial body through hands-on experience, extend the Museum’s engagement beyond the walls of the institution, and encourage experimentation.

Curators should include in their proposals:

1.        A title and a thematic description/curator statement

2.        A list of artists with representative images

The curators are expected to concentrate on Southern California artists and will be expected to contact the artists to confirm their participation.

Must be on-site at least three days per week.

TAM will manage logistics, marketing and provide practical advice and support.

A stipend of $500 will be awarded to successful applications.
