Harlem was the cultural center of New York, it was a magnet for musicians, writers, artists and performers, whose creative activity was celebrated under the banner of the "New Negro Arts Movement". Among the dozens of artists to be discussed will be James VanDerZee, Aaron Douglas, Jacob Lawrence and Augusta Savage.
