Portfolio Review

On Saturday, September 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Torrance Art Museum (TAM) invites beginning, emerging, amateur and professional visual artists to attend a Free portfolio review at the Museum. Head Curator, Max Presneill and Assistant Curators Lisa DeSmidt and Chris Reynolds will conduct reviews. This is a great opportunity to get advice, feedback on your work and to have your work seen by art museum professionals. Two of the artists from the last portfolio review have work in upcoming exhibitions as a result of attending the review session. This is open to: high school art students, undergrad and grad art students, emerging artists and professional artists who are looking to take things to the next level.

This review is limited to Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Installation, Performance, Videos and any other Visual Fine Arts. Craft, jewelry, illustration and graphic design work will not be reviewed. Review sessions will be 10 minutes each. Please register by calling (310) 618-6342. When you register you will be given a time slot for the review. Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. If you are late you may lose your appointment time.

What else should you bring?
Bring your 3 best original works of art. Only 3 pieces will be reviewed! If your work is too large, 3-dimensional or otherwise hard to carry, you can bring photographs of the work instead. When you attend portfolio day, please bring finished pieces. We ask you to bring your original artwork whenever possible. We suggest that you do not spend time and money matting or framing your work. If you would like to show some work digitally, please bring your own laptop with a self-contained power source. We will have a portable DVD Player available for Video work.
