Echo Park Film Center and Torrance Art Museum presents a night of
City Symphony Films
Saturday, July 9, 5 - 9 PM
Gallery Two
For the past 6 years, staff members of Echo Park Film Center have been traveling the world and making City Symphony with diverse communities.
These are films without scripts, actors or sets. Filming locations are selected by the participants who focus their lens on the people, places and objects they feel represent the heart and soul of their communities: iconic architecture and intimate rooms, momentous gatherings and quiet moments, landmarks and forgotten corners.
Participants develop the resulting footage with traditional and eco-friendly chemistry comprising local organic materials such as pine needles, wild cranberries, maple leaves, beer, seaweed and prairie crocuses foraged by the filmmakers. The landscape is imprinted in the image.
For this event at TAM we will be screening a number of these Sound We See films from locations including Berlin, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Hanoi, Rotterdam, Old Crow and Guwahati (India).
All ages welcome.
