Thursday Tunes at TAM: December!

Torrance Art museum and South Bay producer Georgette Gantner are pleased to present the End of the Year Holiday Thursday Tunes at TAM. December's musical offering is “Mallory & Manuel’s Holiday Recital,” featuring Los Angeles-based vocalist/pianist, Mallory Gantner and pianist/soloist, Manuel Arellano. They will perform an array of musical styles: opera, jazz and pop selections by Gershwin, Verdi and Vince Guaraldi, as well as some solo piano pieces. The museum’s current exhibition is South Bay Focus 2016, a contemporary and traditional art juried exhibition presented in conjunction with the Torrance Artists Guild and the South Bay Watercolor Society.

About the Artists

Mallory Gantner (vocals) has been playing piano since the age of six and singing since the age of 11. In 2011, she graduated from California State University Long Beach with a double major in vocal performance and music education. Since then, she has sung a wide range of musical styles, including opera, jazz, musical theater and pop. Mallory grew up idolizing such singers as Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey. Currently, she teaches piano and vocal lessons to kids. Mallory also performs with local LA opera companies and choirs.                                                                        /more

Manuel Arellano (piano) has worked throughout the United States as a soloist, collaborative pianist, vocal coach and musical director. He has appeared in concert throughout Europe and most recently in Cuba, collaborating with orchestras, six-time Grammy winner Daniel Ho, and with The Los Angeles Young Men’s Ensemble. Manuel has been a recipient of numerous scholarships during his undergraduate education at the Cole Conservatory in California and also at the University of Michigan, where he recently completed his Master’s degree in collaborative piano and vocal coaching with the legendary Martin Katz.  He is currently a collaborative pianist and vocal coach at El Camino College.

About the Series’ Founder

Georgette Gantner is an artist whose goal is to support the arts. She has produced a number of exhibits through the Redondo Beach Art Group. In her great appreciation of music, her intention is to promote and present the talents of upcoming musicians and composers in a local setting.
